Hiccups and Still No Porn

The kids I work for always think it's hilarious when I get the hiccups.  Which for some reason I usually end up getting quite often.  Now I do have a remedy that works rather well for me, so it's not a problem of getting rid of them, but I still get them.  As I have them right now.  The good thing is that the kids aren't up to sing the hiccup song.  As funny as it always is to hear, it can get semi-tiredsome.

On to other things.  Right now I'm watching Pride and Prejudice, the new one with Keira Knightley.  I got it just the other day with Walk the Line.  I already have seen Walk the Line.  Love it, well basically love Joaquin Phoenix.  It also is a very good story as well, and I enjoy quite a bit of the cinematic stuff that goes with it.  So as well as watching this movie, I'm surrounded by my knitting stuff, and my travel stuff.  Since I'm the one "in charge" of setting the "schedule" for THE TRIP.  On the celebrity note, I've finally made my first two sightings.  The first was in the city, around CBGB's, and it was of Scott Speedman.  The guy from Felecity, and Underworld.  Scuffy, and looking skinny.  I wanted to grab him, and tell him to eat something.  Not really to exciting.  Didn't get an autograph or picture or anything.  Now the second, I was doing some late night grocery shopping, and as sI was walking down the cereal aisle, who did I see Rob Thomas, the Matchbox 20 guy.  I was on the phone with my sister, the one in Taiwan, who likes his music, and everything.  So I get a few aisles away from him, and tell her who I just saw, and of course she calls me a liar.  But it was him, I'm sure.  And I know that he has a house up here in Westchester, so despite what she says, and the fact that I didn't get an autograph or picture (I'm weird, and think that people should be allowed to do their grocery shopping in peace) it was him.

Now, on to the Yarn Porn.  I worked all last weeked, and everyone well knows.  And of course I'm working tonight.  And I'm working tomorrow as well.  And because of the huge snow storm we've just got, I won't be going out of the house for like 3 days.  Not exactly fun.  And of course none of the time will be spent knitting on my socks.  I swear they're never going to get done.  I'm hoping to head into the city on Sunday, the only day I'll have off this weekend, and knit.  I don't think it's both going to get done, but I have to chose which one is more important to me.  And since the LYS around me has closed, and it's basically easier for me to go into the city for knitting notions.  And I need some new double pointed needles.

Just wish me well that I'll get atleast some decent sleep this weekend.

Potty Training and LYS

In most recent news in my life.  "We", basically meaning me, am trying to potty training one of the kids that I take care of.  It was going okay, the potty training, until mom actually gave her the option that if she didn't want to go on the potty, she didn't have to.  So for the past week, or two, it's been a little like pulling teeth to try and even get the kid to sit on the potty, let alone anything else.  It also doesn't help that on the weekends I'm not around, so if the kid needed or wanted to sit on the potty it might not happen.  I've read quite a few books and articles on the whole affair. I think I'm just a little frustrated that the whole thing is basically, no pun intended, going down the toilet.  So strange, random bit right there.  Now on to the real important thing.

Two weekends ago I went to my LYS (Local Yarn Store), got the yarn that I needed for my current project.  I read the pattern before starting, and buying the yarn.  It said that it would only take about half a skein to make one sock.  So for both socks, I would need just about one skein.  Well after starting one sock and almost getting done with it.  I realized that I would probably need more yarn for them than I had purchased.  So I headed off to the LYS to get some more.  Once I got there, I was greeted by this very interesting sign, saying that the store had closed.  And that there was a LYS that would help me out if I needed anything.  This shop was far enough away that it would just be easier for my to head into the city to see if I could find the yarn there.  I did find it, well only three of the 6 colours that I needed.  At the third store that I went to.  The people at the store were nice, but rather snotty.  The second store I went to would probably have to be the best one.  The lady was really nice when I went in there, very compassionate about the whole situation.  Just nice in general.  Especially after I had started out midtown, then went downtown, then back uptown.  Of course the third store was downtown, in the Finicial district.  Wasn't that fun at all.  So with all of that I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish my kick ass socks before the knitting olympics are over.  (Of course in my biased opinion, I think I should be able to get an extension on my project.  Atleast until I get all the yarn I need.)  So if anyone knows of anyplace in either New York, or online that sells Plymouth brand Encore worsted yarn in Golden Yellow, Lavender, and Plum, I would so LOOOOOVE you forever. :)

I took a few pictures (A whole 36 film roll) of my yarn collection.  I should have that up by the end of this week.  Especially since I'm babysitting Friday to Saturday, over night, 36 hours straight or something.  So stay tuned, Massive Yarn Porn to come soon.
